Nuove funzionalità e miglioramenti

Define pickup location codes for improved integration with your Circulation system

For libraries using Alma, Horizon, Millennium , Sierra, or Symphony for Circulation

Previously, pickup locations for third-party Circulation systems were text-only strings defined in your request forms and displayed in the staff interface and request forms. With this release, you are now able to additionally define location codes that can be passed from Tipasa to your Circulation system for inclusion in temporary circulation items.

Setup of location codes is done in OCLC Service Configuration. To do this, go to WorldShare ILL > Request Forms. Select the Article, Book, or Other form, and click to view/edit the values for the Pickup Location field.

If the names of your pickup locations are already set up, you can add location codes. Click the pencil icon for the location, add the code, and click Save.

Or, you can click Add Locations to create a new pickup location with a location code. Enter the name and code, click +Add, and then click Save.

For example, if you have two pickup locations and the default location of "no selection":

Then the drop-down menu in the request form and staff interface will appear like this:

With this release, you'll need to add the location codes to each of the Tipasa request forms that include the Pickup Location field. When a temporary item is created in your Circulation system, both the name and code for the selected pickup location will be included.

Note: If a Home Branch and/or Pickup Location value is defined within a patron’s record (WorldShare Admin module), that value will override the default pickup location that has been defined for the Tipasa request form (OCLC Service Configuration).

In an upcoming release, functionality will be added to OCLC Service Configuration that will allow you to centrally define pickup location codes - rather than specifying them for a specific Tipasa form.

For more information, Configure Pickup Location on Request Forms.

Use the Resource Sharing Request API to extend your library's ability to create and retrieve requests

The Resource Sharing Request API is now available for use by your library's staff to offer custom interfaces that include the following features:

  • Create requests that are processed by automation, put in review, or sent directly to lenders.
  • Search requests based on a patron identifier to provide your patron with their outstanding requests.
  • Get full details of individual requests such as bibliographic information, status, and much more.

For more information, view the recording of Product Insights: OCLC APIs, October 2023. (The Resource Sharing Request API section begins at the 15:00 time stamp.)
