How do I know which collection to select in Collection Manager?
Symptom
- You have purchased a subscription or multiple separate ebooks or ejournal titles from a vendor and you aren't sure which knowledge base collection contains the content you've purchased.
Applies to
- WorldShare Collection Manager
Resolution
Please contact the provider/vendor from whom you purchased the subscription or individual titles. They should be able to tell you which OCLC knowledge base collection corresponds with the content you've purchased. The name the provider gives their collection does not always match OCLC's collection name, but the provider should be able to give you the corresponding OCLC collection ID.
See the full list of Collections available in the WorldCat knowledge base.
Alternatively, if you've purchased a few titles, you can search for the titles in Collection Manager and see if they appear in a common collection from your provider. Use the Filter option to filter by Provider if needed.
Select the full collection if you have purchased access to all the titles within the collection. Otherwise, select only the titles you've purchased. See Modify a collection to select your subset of titles.
If it's determined that a collection does not currently exist in the knowledge base, you can create a local knowledge base collection, or request that a collection be added to the knowledge base. Creating a local collection will often be a faster solution than waiting for a new collection to be added.
