How to add a lending fee range in Policies Directory

Applies to

  • WorldShare Interlibrary Loan
  • Tipasa

Answer

If your lending fees vary, you can display a lending fee range in the Policies Directory so that borrowing libraries can see a range in the Cost column when viewing the Holdings screen in WorldShare ILL/Tipasa.

To display a lending fee range, create multiple copy/loan policies with their own fees.

For example, let's say that for physical loans, you lend for free to in-state libraries but charge 15.00 to out-of-state libraries. You can have one loan policy for in-state libraries and one for out-of-state libraries. The in-state loan policy would have a fee of 0.00 listed, and the out-of-state loan policy would have a fee of 15.00 listed. This, in effect, will make your lending fees display as 0.00-15.00, and borrowing libraries can look in your library's Policies Directory to see which loan policies and fees apply to them before sending a request.

Additional information

Note: The system does not enforce loan policies; they are informational only. It is the borrowing library's responsibility to be aware of policies before requesting items. A borrowing library can also set its maximum cost so that it doesn't get charged more than that.
