Create WorldCat bibliographic records (Fundamentals)

Overview

È possibile creare un record bibliografico WorldCat in MARC 21 utilizzando un modello di tipo di materiale basato su Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2) o Resource Description and Access (RDA). 

Prepopulated defaults and values

When creating a record with a material type template, the system prepopulates these defaults in the new record:

  • Field 040 — subfields a and c containing your institution symbol and a blank subfield b
  • Campi fissi MARC — l'impostazione predefinita prevede valori appropriati al tipo di record.

Depending on your cataloging profile, the system also prepopulates these variable fields with default values:

  • Campo collocazione— 055, 070, 080, 086, 090, 092 o 096.
  • Field 049 — default holding library code.

Crea un record bibliografico WorldCat in MARC 21 con un modello di tipo di materiale

  1. In the left navigation, click Create Record.
  2. Verify that the Record Editor, and Format defaults are correct. If not, select the applicable option(s).
     Note: Record Editor, and Format defaults are set in User Preferences > Working with records.
  3. Dall'elenco a discesa Tipo di materiale, selezionare un tipo di materiale.
    • Book
    • Computer file
    • Risorse continue
    • Mappa
    • Materiale misto
    • Partitura
    • Registrazione sonora
    • Visual material
  4. (Facoltativo) Dal menu a discesa Nome record dati costanti, selezionare un record dati bibliografici costanti salvato da applicare automaticamente al nuovo record bibliografico. Questo menu contiene un campo di testo di suggerimento automatico. I suggerimenti automatici per i record di dati bibliografici costanti disponibili iniziano con la prima sequenza di tasti nel campo di testo.
  5. Fare clic su Crea. Si apre la schermata dell'editor MARC con il nuovo record.

    Se è stato selezionato un record di dati bibliografici costanti salvato, verrà visualizzato un messaggio di conferma con il nome del record di dati costanti applicato e i campi del record di dati costanti sovrapposti.
  6. Update the bibliographic record with your institution's information.
  7. Dal menu a discesa Salva, selezionare una delle seguenti opzioni:
    • Aggiungi record a WorldCat - Aggiunge il record a WorldCat
    • Aggiungi record e imposta posseduto WorldCat - Aggiunge il record a WorldCat e imposta un posseduto WorldCat aggiungendo il simbolo dell'istituzione OCLC della propria biblioteca al record

A confirmation message will appear with the OCLC control number once the record has been added to WorldCat

8. If there are any errors in the record, an error message will appear. Correct the errors and repeat steps 6 and 7.
