Discover how SCS allocates retention commitments after your shared print group agrees on a specific retention model.

Once your group has decided on the specific thresholds and attributes of the retention model you want to adopt, SCS allocates retention commitments to each participant library and then reloads GreenGlass to reveal this allocation.

Each participant library is expected to protect the titles for which they have been assigned retention responsibility by updating their WorldCat holdings to reflect those commitments. Once your WorldCat holdings have been updated, surplus copies can be safely and efficiently weeded.

The following features will appear in GreenGlass after your shared print group has gone through the allocation process.

GROUP Collection Overview The total title-holdings allocated for retention in your shared print group appears on this screen.
Your Collection Overview The total title-holdings allocated for retention for your library appears at the bottom of this screen.

Click the green hyperlinked tally to view all title-holdings allocated for retention in Query Builder.
Collection Visualization Select ALLOCATED FOR RETENTION from the Overlay drop-down menu to view the number of items in your collection that are and are not allocated for retention.
Query Builder Five Group-Level Attributes are included in the parameters column. These parameters include:

  • same edition (default)

  • no data OR before
Allocated for retention Select one of the following from the drop-down list:
  • No restriction (default)
  • Allocated for retention in my library
  • NOT allocated for retention in my library
  • Allocated for retention in the group
  • NOT allocated for retention in the group
  • Allocated for retention but NOT in my library
