New features and enhancements

Bottom navigation labels are now translated

Previously, the bottom navigation labels always showed the English default instead of localized translations for the current device language/locale.

Benefit

More of the app is now translated into our 17 supported languages and automatically displays translated content when your users change their device language setting, creating a more inclusive and accessible library app experience.

Impact

  • Your users will now see translated labels in the bottom navigation bar.
  • No change to other UI elements or workflows.

ILS specific - Available holds prioritized at top of list

My Holds list is now ordered with "Available" holds at the top of the list instead of in a random order. Remaining holds follow below in their existing order.

Benefit

  • Your patrons and staff can immediately identify items ready for pickup, reducing confusion and wait times.
  • Prioritizing available holds surfaces the most actionable items, making the Holds view more useful at a glance.

Impact

  • Impacted ILSs: Wise and Koha
  • Note: Polaris was recently updated to reflect this change
  • Your patrons will more easily find and retrieve items ready for pickup, likely decreasing missed pickups and follow-up inquiries.
  • Library staff may see fewer support requests about where to find ready holds.

ILS specific - My Checkouts sorted by due date

My Checkouts list has been updated to sort items by their due date instead of the checkout date. Overdue items now appear at the top of the list, followed by items due soonest.

Benefit

  • Your users can quickly identify which items are overdue or due soon, helping them manage returns more effectively and avoid potential late fees.

Impact

  • Impacted ILSs:  Wise and Polaris
  • Note: Koha and Evergreen were recently updated to reflect this change
  • Enhances user experience by prioritizing time-sensitive information.
  • Encourages timely returns and reduces overdue items.
  • Streamlines checkout management for library patrons.

ILS specific - Reading history sorted by checkout date

The Reading History list for libraries has been updated to sort items by their checked out date. The most recently checked out items now appear at the top of the list.

Benefit

  • Your users can quickly find their most recent reading activity, making it easier to track and revisit recently checked out items.

Impact

  • Impacted ILSs:  Wise, Sierra, and Symphony
  • The Reading History list now displays items in order of checkout date, with the newest items shown first, improving navigation and user experience.

Bug fixes

Improved Alert Message Formatting

Alert messages now use correct grammar and formatting, preserving intended punctuation and line breaks for better readability. Previously, alert messages displayed character symbols such as carriage returns and line feeds instead of proper punctuation and line breaks.

Benefit

Your users will experience clearer, grammatically correct alert messages with proper punctuation and line breaks as originally intended. This improvement enhances message readability and overall user experience.

Impact

  • Alert messages will no longer show raw character symbols in place of punctuation.
  • Line breaks and carriage returns in alert messages will display correctly.
  • Android and other platforms remain unaffected.
  • This fix improves accessibility and comprehension of important notices.

Fixed "No Results" Error When Applying Filters in Catalog Search on iOS

Applying search filters on an iOS device now correctly returns results. Previously, conflicting saved filters that were not visually indicated led to unexpected empty search results, and your users received a "Your search returned no results" error message after applying filters during some catalog searches, even when matching results existed.

Benefit

Your users can now confidently apply and adjust filters during catalog searches without encountering misleading "No Results" errors. The filter selections are properly managed and displayed, ensuring accurate search results and a smoother, more intuitive search experience.

Impact

  • The catalog search on iOS correctly respects and displays active filters.
  • Users will no longer see erroneous "No Results" messages when valid results exist.
  • Filter states are clearly represented to avoid conflicts and confusion.

Branch Hours and Holiday Descriptions: Apostrophes and Ordering Fix

The Staff Dashboard now accepts apostrophes and common punctuation in Holiday Closing Description fields, and holiday closings are presented in correct date order within the app. Previously, in Branch Settings > Hours/Holidays where holiday descriptions containing apostrophes or certain punctuation would not save. Holiday closings were also displayed out of chronological order in the app.

Benefit

Staff can enter and save holiday descriptions that include apostrophes, such as "New Year's Eve", without losing their entries. This saves time and prevents repeated data entry. Your library patrons and staff will see holiday closings listed in the intended chronological order, which improves clarity and reduces confusion.

Impact

  • Apostrophes and standard punctuation in Holiday Closing Description fields are now preserved when saving.
  • Holiday closings are displayed in proper date order in the app Library Description screens.
  • Libraries that experienced disappearing descriptions or misordered holiday listings should now see corrected behavior.
