Why am I seeing the error message "The server response could not be understood" in WorldShare Interlibrary Loan?
Symptom
- When attempting to perform any actions in WorldShare ILL, you receive an error message stating, "The server response could not be understood."
- Attempting to load a large file (over 120mb) into a lending request returned error message "The server response could not be understood". The file is too large and causes the server to time out and return error message.

Resolution
This error could indicate that the bookmark/link you have used to access WorldShare is corrupted. Ensure you are using a stable link to access WorldShare. The URL you are using to access WorldShare should have the format https://yourlibrary.share.worldcat.org/wms
This error could also be caused by cache and cookies. If you are still seeing this error after confirming the URL, either try to access using an incognito/private browsing window or clear your browser's cache and cookies.
If you are uploading a file for Article Exchange and receive this error, the file is too large. Try to reduce the size of the file. The current file size limit for Article Exchange is 120mb.
