Our Profile supplier status was set to 'Yes' unexpectedly after additional weather/emergency related closures.

Symptom

  • After an additional weather/emergency-related closure, our status in the Profile tab was set to Yes when the status in the Schedule tab was set to No.

Applies to

  • WorldShare Interlibrary Loan
  • Tipasa

Resolution

The issue is caused when schedules are back-to-back. The system does check hourly, but it's a flag system similar to Circulation notifications—if the first flag is not raised (days closed, in this case), then the rest will not be raised by the system (so missing the first date misses the rest). Since they are back-to-back, the system is turning off and on a schedule at the same time, but turning off will always win out.

For this reason, we always recommend the following:

  1. Schedules should not be back to back. Any unexpected closure should be handled with the manual Yes/No status on the homepage
  2. Schedules should always last one day longer than they actually do. This is because of how the system checks time, so being off on 1/24 should translate to a schedule that is set to No for 1/24-1/25.

Having schedules back to back will cause the issue. Generally, schedules should be used for sure-fire things (holidays, semesters), and unexpected things (weather, emergencies, etc.) should be left to a manual update for the supplier status.
