How does Trusted Sender work in ILLiad?

Symptom

  • You want to make all libraries a "Trusted Sender" in ILLiad

Applies to

  • ILLiad

Resolution

In the ILLiad Customization Manager, with OdysseyAutoElecDel set to ‘Trusted’, only articles from libraries that have ‘Trusted Sender?’ checked on their LenderAddress record skip staff review, so articles from libraries without it checked will be stopped for review. ‘Always’ is the value that treats every library as trusted unless ‘Override Trusted Sender?’ is checked on its record, and it covers new lenders automatically: https://docs.atlas-sys.com/illiad/9.2/electronic-delivery-odyssey/odyssey-trusted-sender

Using ‘Always’, ILLiad ignores the ‘Trusted Sender?’ box and only holds a lender for review when ‘Override Trusted Sender?’ is checked on its record, so the override is the only part that needs changed for ILLiad to honor the OdysseyAutoElecDel setting. Atlas Systems recommends leaving ‘Trusted Sender?’ as it is, since it has no effect when OdysseyAutoElecDel is set to ‘Always’, and changing it would overwrite the values already on those records, which would matter again if the key were ever set back to ‘Trusted’.

NOTE: ‘Override Trusted Sender?’ is how staff mark a specific library as not trusted, so it is worth reviewing which lenders have it before clearing it.

For new patrons, ILLiad saves Electronic Delivery settings from the WebDeliveryGroup field on the registration page; the default NewUserRegistration.html and NewAuthRegistration.html files have these hidden fields set to 'Yes'. If the library's pages show an Electronic Delivery dropdown instead, setting the WebDefaultWebDeliveryGroup key (Customization Manager, Web Interface | Defaults) to ‘Yes’ makes ‘Yes’ the preselected choice.

If the goal is for every library, including new ones, to be trusted, set the OdysseyAutoElecDel key in the Customization Manager (Odyssey | Trusted) to ‘Always’. With ‘Always’, ILLiad trusts every sender unless the ‘Override Trusted Sender?’ box is checked on that library's record.

A library symbol can also have more than one Lender Address record, and ILLiad does not look at a specific one when deciding whether that symbol is trusted, so under the ‘Trusted’ setting, the safe approach is to check ‘Trusted Sender?’ on every record for that library. Setting the key to ‘Always’ avoids having to do this record by record.
