Derive constant data records

Discover how to derive a bibliographic constant data record from an existing bibliographic constant data record or from a MARC 21 bibliographic record in WorldShare Record Manager.

Derive a new bibliographic constant data record from an existing bibliographic constant data record

  1. In the left navigation, click Toolbox. The Constant Data tab > Bibliographic constant data records screen opens by default.
  2. Search for a constant data record or click a Constant Data Record Name. The constant data editor opens in the tab.
  3. Select Derive Constant Data from the Record drop-down menu.
  4. Select which set of fields to transfer.
    • Transfer Leader and 008 values to a new record.
    • Transfer only variable fields.
  5. Click Transfer.
  6. Fare clic su Salva.
  7. In the Save Constant Data dialog, enter:
    • Name - Enter the name of the new constant data record.
    • My Status - Enter the status of the constant data record. Use this information to help you retrieve constant data records.
    • Make Default - Select if you want this constant data record to be your default bibliographic constant data record.
  8. Fare clic su Salva.

Derive a new bibliographic constant data record from a MARC 21 bibliographic record

  1. From the MARC 21 editor, click Record.
  2. From the Record drop-down menu, select Bibliographic Constant Data > Derive.
  3. From the Derive Bibliographic Constant Data dialog window, select which fields to transfer to the new constant data record.
    1. Transfer Leader and 008 values to a new record.
    2. Transfer only variable fields.
  4. Click Transfer. The Derive Constant Data form is displayed. The form is prepopulated with the information from the MARC 21 record.
  5. Fare clic su Salva.
  6. In the Save Constant Data dialog, enter:
    • Name - Enter the name of the new constant data record.
    • My Status - Enter the status of the constant data record. Use this information to help you retrieve constant data records.
    • Make Default - Select if you want this constant data record to be your default bibliographic constant data record.
  7. Click Save.

Derive a new bibliographic constant data record from a Saved - In Progress record

  1. From the Saved - In Progress record editor, click Record.
  2. From the Record drop-down menu, select Bibliographic Constant Data > Derive.
  3. From the Derive Bibliographic Constant Data dialog window, select which fields to transfer to the new constant data record.
    1. Transfer Leader and 008 values to a new record.
    2. Transfer only variable fields.
  4. Fare clic su Trasferisci.
  5. From the Constant Data Record Editor, edit the derived record or save it as a new constant data record.
