WorldShare Collection Manager Release October, 2025

Release Date: Oct 10th, 2025

Introduction

WorldShare Collection Manager now offers an improved workflow for synchronizing your Alma knowledge base with WorldCat.  This process makes it easier for Alma libraries to set WorldCat holdings for their electronic collections, enabling web visibility, ILL efficiencies, and MARC record delivery.  Libraries can now schedule full-export synchronizations that use the multi-file export option for more efficient file handling. This enhancement comes from customer feedback and is designed to reduce export processing time and manual file management.

Recommended actions

For this release, we recommend that you review the following actions:

  1. If you have previously configured Alma as an Alternative Service Provider via KB Sync, update these settings in your Alma Profile:
    • Number of records in the file: 10000
    • Use default filenames select: YES
    • Include all titles each time file is published: Select the Include all titles each time file is published check box.
  2. For complete configuration details or if you are new to KB sync please see this page: Map titles from an alternate knowledge base supplier.

Synchronize Alma KB to WorldCat

  • Scheduled full-export synchronization for Alma KBs: Support for scheduled, automated full exports that utilize multi-file export to split large exports into manageable files.
  • More efficient file handling: Multi-file exports reduce the risk of timeouts and make processing large record sets more reliable.
  • Why this matters:
    • Faster, more reliable exports for large KBs
    • Reduced manual intervention and file-handling errors
    • Easier ongoing synchronization between Alma and WorldCat
