OCLC AI Enrichment macro

Discover how to use the OCLC AI Enrichment macro to receive suggestions from OCLC's AI-driven service for Dewey Decimal Classifications (DDC), Library of Congress Classifications (LCC), and Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH).

The AI Enrichment macro sends a bibliographic record to OCLC's AI service and provides AI-selected suggestions to enhance the record. AI suggestions are based on existing WorldCat data.

  1. While logged on to Connexion, open a bibliographic record or workform.
  2. Ensure that the record or workform contains a title. Records that also contain a name and a summary will result in the best provided results.
  3. With the cursor in any field, run the OCLCAIEnrichment macro:
    1. Open the Macro Manager with Tools > Macros > Manage...
    2. Expand the OCLCAIEnrichment macro book.
    3. Select the OCLCAIEnrichment macro.
    4. Click Run.

Note: When running the macro for the first time during a session, the dialog may take a moment to appear.

  4. The macro will open with a dialog with AI-selected suggestions for the following fields:
    • DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification)
    • LCC (Library of Congress Classification)
    • LCSH (Library of Congress Subject Headings)

Note: Field suggestions that are selected and greyed out are already present in the record.

  5. Check the boxes next to the suggested fields that should be added to the record. You can receive up to three suggestions for classifications and five suggestions for subject headings.
  6. (Optional) Use the Show suggestions toggle to turn suggestions on or off for a grouping of fields. These settings will be retained the next time you use the macro.
  7. Click OK
  8. (Optional) To close the dialog without adding any suggestions, click Cancel.
  9. Added fields may be reviewed and further edited before taking action on the bibliographic record.
