Add more details

Use the Add more details screen to add digital items, compound items, URLs, and metadata-only items in CONTENTdm (new version).

Add a digital item

  1. Select which collection to add the item to from the Collection drop-down.
    • The default collection displays initially, but the last collection where items were added will subsequently appear within your session. 
  2. Click Add a digital item
  3. From the Add an item screen, select your file by dropping the file in the gray box or selecting browse files
  4. A preview of the file appears.
  5. Select Next
  6. Optional. Add a transcript by toggling on the Generate transcript with OCR setting. 
    • Run OCR process on images and PDF files only. OCR will not override provided transcripts.
  7. Add metadata. Enter the properties for the collection. Required fields are noted with an asterisk (*).
    • Refer to Metadata for more information.
    • Only the metadata properties with a value will appear to end-users on the public-facing site.
  8. Determine whether to save the item as a draft or publish directly:
    • Select Save as draft to save this item in the My drafts section for later review and editing.
    • Select Publish to publish the item to the collection. 
      • The item will be in processing and cannot be edited, published, or deleted until complete.

Add a compound item

  1. Select which collection to add the item to from the Collection drop-down. 
    • The default collection displays initially, but the last collection where items were added will subsequently appear within your session. 
  2. Click Add a compound item
  3. From the Add a compound item screen, select your files by dropping the file in the gray box or selecting browse files
  4. A preview of the files appears.
  5. Optional. Use the Add more button to include more files. 
  6. Select Next
  7. Optional. Add a transcript by toggling on the Generate transcript with OCR setting. 
    • Run OCR process on images and PDF files only. OCR will not override provided transcripts.
  8. Add metadata. Enter the properties for the collection. Required fields are noted with an asterisk (*).
    • Refer to Metadata for more information.
    • Only the metadata properties with a value will appear to end-users on the public-facing site.
  9. Click Next to see a Summary of the upload.
  10. Determine whether to save the item as a draft or publish directly:

Add a URL

  3. From the Add a URL screen, enter the URL. 
  4. Add metadata. Enter the properties for the collection. Required fields are noted with an asterisk (*).

    • Only the metadata properties with a value will appear to end-users on the public-facing site.
  5. Click Next to see a Summary of the upload.
  6. Determine whether to save the item as a draft or publish directly:

  4. Click Next to see a Summary of the upload.
  5. Determine whether to save the item as a draft or publish directly:
