Editing Collection Permissions
End users must have permission to view items in a collection. You can set permissions for both your digital items and metadata, or set permissions so that metadata is available but permissions are required to view the digital item.
You can set collection-level permissions based on user names or IP addresses or both.
Edit collection-level permissions
-
Determine how you would like to restrict the collection.
To restrict the collection based on user name:
User names used in CONTENTdm are OCLC LDAP accounts user names. To create new user accounts, go to https://ldap-accounts.oclc.org/create
From your CONTENTdm website, use the log in link in the upper-right hamburger menu or in the footer to access restricted collections. If your log in link is not displayed, see Enable login in Website Configuration Tool.
Note:To restrict the collection based on IP addresses:
-
Enter the IP address from where you want to grant access. Use wild cards (*) to allow access to a domain. Separate multiple entries with semicolon. For example 192.168.0.*; 192.168.1.*.
Specify an IP address range by using a hyphen in any one of the IP address range segments, either alone or in conjunction with a wild card. You can use more than one address range per IP address. Below are some examples of ranges:
192.168.210-219.1
192.168.201-219.1-49
192.168.210-213.*
-
-
Select whether you want the permissions to apply to the digital items only, or metadata as well. Check the box if you want the metadata to be viewable by all users.
-
Once you have created collection-level permissions, you can further restrict individual items by applying item-level permissions. Item-level permissions can only be assigned to those IP addresses and user names that have access to the collection.

Click save changes.
Creating Collection Information
The content and format of the collection information depends on the cataloging policies of your institution. Collection information is helpful for Project Client users who work with multiple projects and collections. When information about the collection is added here, it can be viewed on the Project Client Home tab for the selected project's collection.
The maximum number of characters allowed in the collection information text box is 10,000. When entering text, you can use tags to add extra lines to enhance readability.
