How do I bypass my SSO to submit EZproxy credentials

Symptom
  • SSO needs to be bypassed to submit EZproxy credentials
Applies to
  • EZproxy
Resolution

Credentials can be submitted to EZproxy as a query string as long as this is not specifically blocked in the user.txt file

https://ezproxy.yourlib.org/login?user=@@@&pass=###

The URL above will need to be updated to use the EZproxy hostname for the server being accessed. The username (represented as '@@@') and password (represented as '###') from the user.txt file should be updated in the URL as well.

After submitting the above, enter the following in the URL field in the browser to be taken directly to the Admin page:

https://ezproxy.yourlib.org/admin

Additional information

Note: This method will record the credentials in the EZproxy log files.

This method is not secure; it should only be used by EZproxy admins if needed. This should not be used by regular users to use EZproxy.

If regular users need a secure way to log in to EZproxy and cannot use SAML, then use this method:
