EZproxy link results in a page full of symbols

Symptom
  • When accessing a resource, page loads random symbols and diamond-like shapes
Applies to
  • EZproxy  (all versions)
Resolution
  1. Log into the EZproxy Admin page.
  2. Under the Current Activity heading, click on the View server status hyperlink.
  3. Select: Include extended information and Enable Sorting.
  4. Click Update.
  5. Open config.txt.
  6. Search the config.txt file for HTTPHeader Accept-Encoding.
  7. Change the line to HTTPHeader -request -process Accept-Encoding. This makes it act locally and restricts functionality to that stanza.
  8. Save the config.txt file changes.
  9. Restart EZproxy.
  10. Clear browser cache and cookies.
  11. Open a new session of EZproxy and test link again.
