Daily email notifications from EZproxy server despite unchecked 'Receive Daily Email Digest' box

Applies to

  • EZproxy version 7.2 and higher

Answer

The OCLC EZproxy email notification system will send at least one email per day based on selected preferences.

When 'Receive Daily Email Digest' is enabled:
• Real-time event notifications will not be sent.
• Will send a daily digest email that includes the total collection of all emails generated for a user during a 24-hour period, summarizing all tripped rules.
• If no rules are tripped, the digest will state "There were no tripped security rules."

When 'Receive Daily Email Digest' is disabled:
• Email notifications will be sent immediately when a rule is tripped.
• If no events occur, an email notification will be sent after midnight stating "There were no tripped security rules."

In essence, you will receive a minimum of one email per day, either a daily digest of tripped security rules or a notification stating no rules were tripped.

If you have enabled notifications and are not receiving daily emails, please check your spam folder or ensure that email rules are not diverting notifications. If issues persist, contact OCLC Support with the full URL to your EZproxy server for further assistance in verifying email delivery.

Additional information

The purpose of this daily email is twofold: firstly, to inform administrators that there were no issues on that particular day, and secondly, to serve as a confirmation that the email service is functioning correctly.
