About Choreo Insights

Overview

Choreo Insights is a collection analytics tool that allows you to compare your institution's collection with other collections worldwide in WorldCat. This includes gap, distinct, and overlap analyses and supports the export of matching title lists. Your institution's data is updated on a weekly basis.

WorldCat record matching in Choreo Insights

Choreo Insights uses the same matching logic found in WorldCat Discovery to group related items. This logic identifies work families - groups of different editions or formats of the same title by the same author.

Choreo leverages this grouping to help you see your collection more clearly. However, there is one key difference from the patron view in WorldCat Discovery:

• Discovery often hides duplicates (e.g. records in different languages) to make searching faster.
• Choreo displays all records, including different languages of cataloging.

These records provide essential data for collection development. Identifying similar works reveals the true breadth of a collection. This visibility allows for more information when deselecting older editions or formats that are no longer in demand.

1. Use the Insights functions to build insights and view your saved insights.
2. Create Comparator Groups for your library and other WorldCat libraries for comparison.
3. Create and upload title lists to compare against your library's collection.
4. My Libraries (A) represents your library and collections.
5. Comparator Groups (B) represent libraries, collections, and regions you can compare with your library and collections.
6. Select the analysis type you'd like to use to compare your collection to the collection of other libraries.
7. Query filters allow you to segment your collection within the analysis type to focus on specific parts of your collection.
8. Export a query as a CSV or CSV for Excel (with UTF-8 BOM) file.
9. Reset the builder to default.
10. Save a query to use again later.
11. Run and view the report generated by your query.
