Can I request a book I found in WorldCat.org directly from OCLC?
Applies to
- WorldCat.org
Answer
Books or other materials cannot be requested by patrons directly from OCLC. WorldCat is a database of library holdings. OCLC provides the WorldCat database for searching, but OCLC does not own or lend library materials. Similarly, OCLC testing and demo libraries do not own or lend library materials.
Contact your local library to see if they can request the item for you via interlibrary loan. The WorldCat Registry may help you locate a library in your area if you don't already have one you use.
Additional Information
Library staff may refer to interlibrary loan training materials for steps on how to borrow material.
