When checking out a pass or item in MuseumKey or LendingKey, we get the error message, "Item could not be checked out. Cannot locate item record. Please see a staff member for assistance."

Symptom

  • When checking out a pass or item in MuseumKey or LendingKey, we get the error message, "Item could not be checked out. Cannot locate item record. Please see a staff member for assistance." The item cannot be checked out.

Resolution

The message Cannot locate item record. Please see a staff member for assistance is being generated directly by the ILS when MuseumKey/LendingKey attempts to perform a checkout across the SIP2 connection. Please check with your system administrator as to why this is or what has changed in the ILS, as MuseumKey/LendingKey has no control over this. This error message can appear when the item ID no longer exists in the ILS or has been changed.

You can verify that the item ID number is correct under Museums >> Items.
