Nuove funzionalità e miglioramenti

iOS conforms to Level A and AA of the W3C WebContent Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1

With this work, we have remediated all issues identified in our most recent accessibility conformance review (ACR). While accessibility is an ongoing effort and additional reviews may identify new opportunities for improvement, we remain committed to continuous testing and prompt remediation. If you encounter accessibility issues, please contact us at OCLC Support.

All Screens Now Support Landscape Rotation — WCAG Orientation Update

As part of our WCAG conformance work, every screen in the iOS app now supports device rotation into landscape orientation with full functionality and feature parity. Users can rotate phones, tablets, and other devices and continue to use all capabilities without loss of content or controls. This update supports the WCAG Orientation success criterion and improves usability for a wider range of devices and assistive needs.

Search Landscape   Account Landscape

Vantaggi

  • Your Users will be able to rotate their devices to landscape and use the app with the same features and controls available in portrait.
  • Your Users will be able to read and interact with content more comfortably on wide screens, improving readability.
  • Your Users will be able to benefit from better accessibility for low-vision and motor-impaired users who prefer or require landscape for magnification, screen readers, or external keyboards.
  • Your staff will be able to reproduce and diagnose layout or accessibility issues more easily because both orientations are supported and consistent.
  • Your Users will be able to use on-screen and external keyboards more effectively when landscape provides more horizontal space for input and controls.

Impact

  • Your Users may notice layout changes in some screens when switching to landscape (reflowed content, different control placement) — the same functionality remains, but positioning and spacing will adapt to the wider viewport.
  • Your staff will need to update any screenshots, training materials, or documentation that assume portrait-only layouts to include landscape views where helpful.

General accessibility updates

We’ve also made general accessibility improvements across our iOS app, focused on page structures, text resizing, and focus handling. Page markup and element semantics have been standardized so VoiceOver and other assistive tech can present a clear logical reading and navigation order (headings, landmarks, etc.). Text now fully respects Dynamic Type and system text-size adjustments, so content scales without clipping or overlap. Focus improvements address WCAG 2.4.7 (Focus Visible). Keyboard and VoiceOver users will now see clear, persistent focus indicators, and when an alert is dismissed (for example, a sign-in error), focus reliably returns to the top of the page or the most relevant control (e.g., the sign-in form header or first input) so users do not lose context.

Search Filters Alphabetical Ordering

Search filters now display in consistent alphabetical order throughout the application. Previously, filters would appear in random order each time the app was reopened, making it difficult for users to quickly locate specific filters. This enhancement ensures a predictable and organized filter experience.

Vantaggi

  • Your users will be able to quickly locate the filters they need without having to scan through a randomly ordered list each time.
  • Your users will be able to develop muscle memory for filter locations, improving their efficiency when performing repeated searches.
  • Your staff will be able to provide clearer instructions and documentation referencing filter positions.

Impact

  • Your users will experience a more professional and polished interface with predictable filter organization.
  • Power users will notice improved workflow efficiency due to consistent filter positioning.

Optional Customization Available:

  • To position a specific filter at the top of the filter section, add a space character before the filter title (e.g., " Priority Filter" instead of "Priority Filter").
  • No other configuration changes are required; the alphabetical ordering will be applied automatically upon updating to this version.
  • Note: This enhancement is backward compatible and requires no mandatory Staff Dashboard configuration changes to existing filter setups.

Consolidated Alerts/Notifications Management Interface

The Alerts/Notifications section has been streamlined into a unified, tabbed interface. Previously, Alert Types, Create Alert, and Scheduled Alerts existed as separate pages accessible from the left navigation menu. These three pages are now consolidated into a single page with tab navigation, providing a more cohesive and efficient workflow for managing all alert-related functions.

Vantaggi

  • Your staff will be able to manage all alert configurations from a single location without navigating between multiple pages.
  • Your staff will be able to view and reference information across alert functions more easily without losing context.

Impact

  • Your staff will experience a cleaner, less cluttered left navigation menu with fewer redundant items.

Configuration Changes

  • All existing alert types, created alerts, and scheduled alerts will automatically appear in the new tabbed interface.
  • No data migration or settings adjustments are necessary.
  • Note: This enhancement maintains all existing functionality while improving navigation efficiency. User permissions and alert configurations remain unchanged.

Correzioni di errori

Implement platform optimizations to stabilize iOS account push notifications

We implemented platform optimizations to stabilize account-related push notifications (holds ready for pickup, overdues, and fines/fees).

Vantaggi

  • Your patrons will be able to receive more complete and timely notifications about holds, overdues, and fines/fees.
  • Your staff will be able to address fewer patron inquiries about missed notifications because delivery reliability has improved.

Impact

  • Your patrons will be able to get notifications more frequently, increasing timeliness for pickup and overdue alerts.
  • Your patrons will be able to expect fewer partial notification runs caused by the earlier server-call failure that has now been fixed.
  • Your patrons will be able to avoid registration issues on iOS devices after updating the app; users who enabled notifications after login are now reliably registered.
  • Your patrons may still experience occasional delays or nondelivery caused by Apple or upstream ILS availability — we are actively monitoring and investigating those.
